What I'm Enjoying in Life At the Moment
It has been so long since I've posted anything which is bad - I need to get into the habit of it!!
I'll start by saying Happy New Year!!! (Since I have not blogged since December 2011...)
Just a short post to get me back into it. I'll start with the things I'm enjoying in life at the moment.
Lana Del Rey
What a voice, what a style! Her album so easy to listen to and her beautiful old Hollywood style is just perfect.
Wavy Hair
I borrowed my housemates hair waving tongs and loved it so much that I went out and bought my own pair. It's so easy to use, takes me 5 minutes in the morning and looks nice if you pin some hair from the front at the back of your head.
Ebay
I've thought about starting up an Ebay account but never got around to it. A friend from work told me about her Ebay account and how she is actually making money selling her old clothes so I thought I would finally give it a try. I decided that if I didn't sell anything I'd take it to a charity shop.
...I can't believe it. I've actually sold three items already and made myself a little money!! A few £s to go towards some new clothes can't be bad.

Drama As A Road To Recovery
Drama As A Road To Recovery; A Witness to Reality Interview of Vinnie Heavey
By Claire Bassett
Vinnie Heavey spent five years in Winchester Prison where he was exposed to the world of Drama, this radio documentary piece that I have put together for my Journalism degree delves into his world of performance and how using improvisational skills has helped him with his recovery and to integrate himself back into society.
Confident in front of the camera, Vinnie looks ready to take on the world |
"Life is a production, you can either do things to get involved with and promote the production or you can be dysfunctional within it" - Vinnie
Please click HERE to listen to the Radio piece. Thank you.

Lets take a dip into the daily lives of a group of Winchester students...
In House 34 live five students who for the past three years have been family as well as friends. They've had fun times and been there through the hard times together. 'A Day in the Life of House 34' explores what things they get up to during a normal day and what it is like to be a student. Is it really the stereotype everybody thinks of?
The ideal breakfast for a hard working student, Sour Creme dip. Spot on. |
Being in a relationship and living together is taking its toll on Jon and Hannah. |
Jon turns 22...really? |
Waiting patiently for Steph to come out of the bathroom and walk into the towel, Jon has his fun. |
The girls love nothing better than a chit-chat on the new rug from Ikea, of course. |

Camden, City and Colour and City Tours.
For the boyfriends birthday I got us tickets to go and see the amazing City and Colour at the Roundhouse in Camden Town and we finally went yesterday after having waited for months!
We started our two day venture by hitting the Camden markets.
Then finally it was 7pm. Dallas was even better than I imagined. For those of you unfamiliar with Dallas Green check out the video below - a song from his new album.
Every second he sang was just incredible. Singing songs from his first album he performed alone but for songs from the second and third album he was joined by his band (I was a little anxious to see whether it would sound the same with a band as he originally began on his own, but they worked great together).
The supporting act was a guy named Hanni El Khatib from LA who was pretty good! He's got this kind of old country sound to him.
Here are some of the photos I took of the night:
The Roundhouse was a really cool venue. Pretty obvious really but it is a massive round building although the stage area is really intimate so even though we were high up in the circle we could still see really clearly - the band weren't far away at all. The only annoying thing is that there are 21 pillars which depending on your seat can obstruct the view. Luckily we had great seats in between pillars.
We stayed in the Camden Lock Hotel which was literally opposite the Roundhouse and only 2 minutes from a Salisbury's. On the outside it looks a bit grotty but our room was lovely and clean and so cosy! They don't have a 'closing' time either so it didn't matter what time the gig finished.
On Wednesday we went for a three hour open top bus tour which was AMAZING! I've always wanted to go on one of them and the lovely boyfriend got us some tickets. It was absolutely freezing though so by the end of the tour holding my camera was near impossible as I couldn't feel my hands.
Here are some pictures I took of the tour:
A fantastic two days spent in London. Now, when is City and Colour next on tour!?...

Photoshop Fun
I have a module which is called Photo and Documentary Journalism which is great, we literally just get to take lots of pictures and capture that Kodak Moment.
We recently spent a lesson on photo shop learning how to edit and change images - below is the image I made!!
I can't wait to try it on my own photos!

Snap Happy
This year I have the greatest lecture ever, Photo and Documentary Journalism. I literally just get to take pictures all the time!
I have always enjoyed taking photos (getting that Kodak moment!) and loved going through my mum's countless photo albums back in the day when you had to get the photos developed!! I loved being able to actually look through the photos on my lap so much that even now when I can just look at my computer I choose to get my photos printed off and put into photo albums.
Today after the lecture we had great fun taking photos at uni, here are some of the efforts:
I think there was something about that pose that Sammy liked today!....
For the majority of these pictures I used a setting on my camera called 'pin hole' which I really like. For the next few pictures I asked Jenni to make expressions based on what I told her to feel...
Here are the last few from today:
