Makeup, Makeup, Makeup.

I'm not very good at this whole student budgeting as yet again I've been shopping, only this time for makeup so technically I may have still spent too much but on lots of little things rather than one item of clothing!

Lets start at the very beginning - foundation.
For a while now I've been using Olay total effects touch of foundation rather than a separate moisturiser and foundation as I found any foundation too heavy but more recently I haven't felt like my skin is being covered with just my Olay so I went looking for a foundation and I found this:

At only £6.99 I think its a really good buy, I will definitely be getting it again. Unlike any other foundation I've tried the new cream gel mixture feels just like a moisturiser rather than a heavy texture so it's easier to apply. Because it goes on so easily I'm not fussing about getting lines - it just goes on so great.

Eyes.
I decided to buy the new Maxfactor Smoky Eye Effect in Bronze Haze.
It's a really nice colour and is really easy to create the effect although I was disappointed as after a few hours it had creased in my eyelid because of its creamy texture. To avoid a massive crease I have started wearing the darker shade as an eyeliner on my top lid or using the lighter shade in the corners of my eye to make them seem wider and brighter. However I would still go for the whole smoky effect if I was going out, I would just have to be prepared to re-apply every so often to get rid of any crease marks.

An offer with the Smoky Eye Effect meant that I could buy a mascara cheaper so I chose Maxfactor False Lash Effect.

I'm pretty sure I've had it before, I can't remember...but boy am I glad I have it again! I love it! I have naturally quite long eyelashes so when I buy a mascara I want it to fan them out equally but more often than not they end up straight and a few end up clumped together but with this they look awesome! I always get even coverage and they naturally curl back giving me a big fanned out look and one coat is enough.

Lips.
One thing my mother always told me 'a lipstick is all you need'. According to my mum lipstick finishes off a look, completes it...and as much as I've always wanted to get myself one I am always baffled by the amount of choice and I hate trying out testers as normally they're ruined from people poking them. So it's difficult to see what colour suits you. I have the classic red for when I'm feeling brave but really wanted one I could wear more often, one which wasn't obvious but gave my lips a pop of colour.

No. 016 'Heart Breaker'

I have finally found the one, my mum will be so proud when I tell her!! Rimmel Lasting Finish Lipstick in 'Heart Breaker'.

Festival Fashion Shoot

A few weeks ago I went to Vikki's house (Creative Director) for a photo shoot to accompany my 'Festival Fashion' article which will be in our Winchester Fashion Week magazine so make sure you buy your copy!!

It was a beautiful day - no rain! This meant we could take perfect pictures in the sunshine, not really hard work at all. We had six looks to shoot, all festival inspired as I'm attending my first EVER festival this year and yes I'm going big...I'm going Glastonbury!!!!!! I am beyond excited but also terrified, but hey whats life without a little adrenalin - I quite like the challenge.

We decided that I would be the model for the pictures, we liked the idea that people would be able to see me in my festival gear that I'd written about. Now I am no model so a lot of the pictures were awful, actually quite hysterical...but we did manage to get a great few which will appear in the magazine.

We spent the whole day prancing through fields in wellies just like you do at festivals, without the rain but with added insects...if I didn't stop to look what was there I was fine.

Here are some pictures from the day:

Ah, the sun on my face!

Attempting to climb the fence

...Making sure there are no insects!

Holding on for my hat!!

Being a 'rockstar'...!

Just running through a field, like in the films...

I hope you like the pictures, although the ones appearing in the magazine are much better! Keep checking for more information about Fashion Week on www.winchesterfashionweek.com - we have loads on including lots of workshops at the Discovery Centre and of course catwalk shows.

Birthday Bowling

On Friday I ate some good food! A Frankie and Benny's double pepperoni pizza and some toffee pancakes with ice-cream to be precise! Out for a friends birthday we began the night with a game of bowling (which I won!!!) and then went for our yummy dinner.

Here are some pictures from the night:

Katie and I
Got to love the jump pose!

Mine and Katie's amazing double pepperoni pizzas

Scrummy toffee pancakes and ice-cream

Now, I always fuss about what I'm going to wear when I go bowling...it's important to us girls to always look nice even with big bowling shoes on! Although I think I have finally realised that it does not matter because it is impossible to match anything with bowling shoes. You just have to rock what you're wearing and keep thinking 'I'm not the only one who looks silly'!

Bowling feet!

Freemans.com

Wedding fashion is all anyone is thinking about at the moment with Wills and Kate getting hitched last week, and rightly so! Everyone woman wants to look fantastic when going to a wedding but many struggle to pick out that perfect outfit so I have chosen something which I think would look great on any women late 30's to early 40's.

Freemans Rose Print Shift Dress is beautiful and paired with their City Walk Sandals in white it's lovely for any summer wedding. A structured shift dress will look great on most body shapes and the wide straps will even out any top heavy women! Wedges are very popular right now; they turn any simple dress into garden party perfection and are much easier to walk in than stilettos!

With a bold detail on the dress it's best to go for simple but pretty accessories and what wedding wouldn't be complete without a hat or fascinator? You could go for either red or white with the dress; a 70's style Lipsy Hat from Freemans would be bang on trend but perhaps a softer white fascinator would give a more dressed up style.

When it gets cold at the evening party add a scarf to keep your arms warm, it keeps your outfit wedding ready and doesn't hide any of your dress!

A large stretch bracelet in silver would finish the outfit off perfectly. Don't worry about leaving your neck without any glitz - the squared neckline of the shift dress creates a beautiful shape!

To all you ladies out there going to a wedding soon remember that garden party chic with a touch of glitz is all you need to pull off the perfect look and you might even find your prince!
