Winchester Fashion Week.

I am very very excited to announce that I am now an official marketing officer for Winchester Fashion week!

Winchester Fashion Week is happening from 25th to 31st July 2011 and is going to be BIG! So far we've got some great organisations involved and lots going on, you really don't want to miss it.

Running up to the event we have countless meetings and hundreds of 'to do' lists to make the event the best that it can be. During the week you will be able to buy a one off Winchester Fashion Week magazine.

Last week I went to a fashion shoot for one of the editorial spreads featured in the magazine. Now, I've never been to a fashion shoot before and it's safe to say I was expecting chaos but you know what, it was so calm and chilled out all day! We had the ipod on play, plenty of time and bourbon biscuits to nibble on.

I walked into the tiny tiny room to find it full of lights, makeup, clothes and jewelry - a girls dream. Although my lungs were smothered by the smell of hairspray! Music on, makeup done we were ready to rock some spring trends. All of the clothes were from high street stores Topshop, Zara, Newlook and of course what fashion shoot wouldn't be complete without some of the stylists own clothes.

The spread is going to focus on the colour blocking trend. To match this theme makeup artist Alice Malone, assisted by Micky Cole, used bright colours on the models face; beginning the shoot with a line of bright yellow and ending on pink lips - we wanted everything to be strong.

Photographer Matt Milner was great at capturing the perfect moment and helping to create shapes along with creative director Vikki Weston.

The shoot was about creating strong shapes go with the colour blocking theme; model Avalon Jennings was fantastic at creating interesting shapes with her body - the clothes looked great on her.

I really can't wait for you to see the finished magazine! Keep checking the Winchester Fashion Week blog for more updates about the events: http://http://www.winchesterfashionweek.com/index.php

Confession.

I've been shopping.

So much for saving my money. You can't blame me really - it was a choice between hitting the gym after work or the shops and of course shops came first although perhaps I should work on getting into shape before getting into my clothes.

I got three lovely things all from Warehouse. They have some really nice stuff in there at the moment - loads of pastel/coral colours and flowery dresses.

I have always wanted a denim jacket (a slight 90's obsession maybe..) and I FINALLY found one that I actually liked. It's cropped with a light wash - very simple, no major detailing which is great because it means I can wear super pretty patterns underneath.

£45

Secondly something which I have not always wanted but liked anyway:

£30

I love love love this blouse! This is the type of coral colours that Warehouse have in at the moment, the colour pops but it still remains slightly pastel and not too harsh. I liked the cut off sleeves and collar detailing plus it looks great with the denim jacket. Now all I have to do is found something to wear on my legs!

Half price jewelery? Err YES PLEASE!

£5 - half price

I don't have anything this bold but I was instantly drawn to it. It's a mix of gold, silver and black hoops all linked together to create a mass of links!

Can I hear a big WHOOP for shopping?!

Post Secret.

Post Secret is an online community where people send postcards with their secrets on them, some are funny and kinda silly while others hold deep messages and wishes.

Here is one I found today which I liked:

It's really worth a look. The site is updated every Sunday with new secrets.

There's something about peoples words which make me feel really reflective; to know what secrets people are hiding makes me question whether I have any of my own. I always come away from Post Secret with big emotions whether its happiness or thoughtfulness but there's always a secret to make you smile.

Gig Style.

I always give good thought to what I'm going to wear to a gig as you do not want to be too hot, too cold, in danger of jumping and your clothes falling down or even going up with you revealing your underwear. I try to wear something comfortable with a small cardigan which is thin enough to fit into my handbag but you also still want to remain looking nice!

Here is what Alice wore when we went to see Katy Perry:

Bag from: Topshop
Jumper from: Republic
Shorts from: Topshop
Boots from: River Island

I really loved what Alice was wearing, I think she totally captured the comfy and practical style needed for gigs but still managed to pull something together which looked really cool.

Here is the detail on the shoulders of her jumper:

This is really pretty and turns a normal cotton jumper into something a bit more glitzy.

Alice had the ring of all rings on her finger, it was amazing and certainly matched the glitzy style of her jumper: (ring from Topshop)

The eyes have gems inside which sparkle, it kind of reminds me of something from Pirates of the Caribbean!

Katy Perry.

I have always loved Katy Perry's music (just ask my boyfriend, I'm sure he has lots to say about my choice of music in his car!) and last night I was lucky enough to go and see her live performing at the Bournemouth Bic.

The show was a-m-a-z-i-n-g. It was everything I imagined and more, one of the best things was that when I walked into the room I was welcomed by the smell of sweeties, it literally smelt like I was stood next to a candyfloss machine the whole night which was pretty amazing.

There were two support acts; Yelle and DJ Skeet Skeet (click on their names to be taken to their websites).
They were both really good actually - normally I am not too bothered by the support acts but both were great at getting the audience involved and the music was fun to dance to.

Yelle are a three piece band from France, the song below is what they opened the show with.

Here is another song they performned which I really like:

DJ Skeet Skeet was pretty good, he did play some of his own stuff but I actually enjoyed it more when he played songs everyone knew like Benny Benassi Satisfaction.

Now for the main act, Katy Perry! The stage was amazing: cupcakes, lolly pops and sweeties made up the set and cotton candy clouds floated above our heads. After a short film clip which set the scene and began telling the story she entered at the top of the stage and started the show singing Teenage Dream to which the crowed erupted.

I think she changed about 15 times?!...each outfit was cute with cup cakes and glitter, of course!
Here are the ones I got pictures of:

When she sang Hot and Cold she changed her clothes a lot - the picture below shows how she did it, it was really fun to watch. Every few seconds she would go through a booth or go through a hoop and each time she appeared with a different dress!

My favourite song of the night was I Kissed A Girl; the first part was very sexy and 'vintage' and then it went into the original. Here is a video I found on Youtube of the performance;

It was such a good night, I would definitely go and see her again. Sorry for all the of 'amazings' it couldn't have been helped - the whole night really was amazing!! Here is a short video I took of her singing - she was note perfect the entire time.
