Nail Effects.

As you know from my post before I really like nail varnish, and after having my nails painted in a nude colour for a few weeks now (which by the way lasted really well, I will be buying No. 17 again) I have decided to go for a new bold look.

Barry M have a new nail varnish called Instant Nail Effects which basically is a top coat that goes over any colour and creates a cracking effect! I tried it for the first time today and I love it!

This is what my nails look like after applying the Instant Nail Effect;

I'm wearing Barry M '272' Shocking Pink as my base coat

Click HERE to go to the website to watch a video of how the varnish works.

Originally the only colour was black but they have just introduced Pink Fizz, Blue Print and White Frost'.

A bottle costs £3.99 which I think is a good price - some other brands cost more than that for a standard colour. To save money you can get a discount using your NUS card in Superdrug which is great, although for me I have to make a choice...10% off from Superdrug or collect points using my Boots card?!

I will definitely be looking out for the new colours - it gives a really cool effect especially if you're heading out for the night! I just so happen to be going to see KATY PERRY tomorrow night...! I have done my nails especially - very Katy Perry Esq.

Summer Wedges.

Walking around Winchester today with my mum I noticed that summer wedges are making a big appearance and I'm very tempted to get some this year. I've always liked them but for some reason never committed to buying a pair.

Here are some of my favourite that I saw shopping today:

Monsoon
'Daffodil Espadrilles' £40.

I think these would look lovely with a summer dress, something smart you'd wear to a wedding or garden party. I like that they're a neutral colour with detail on the front - I think it keeps them simple but still pretty to look at.

'Teal Pansy Espadrilles' £40.

In contrast I like these ones for the bright pop of colour - all you'd need is shorts and a white tee.

Russell & Bromley
 Leather and Raffla Wedges £125

I love love love these shoes, from what I saw in Russell & Bromley they also do other colours (all of which are lovely). I like that they're not too high - there is still a heel but its subtle - perfect for walking around in the sunshine all day long.

Ivory Crochet Wedge £215.

These are great if you want them a little higher, I think they're a perfect height for 'going out in the evening' wedges - they'd look great with a glam dress but still keep that summer edge.

Jigsaw and River Island also had some really nice summer wedges, they definitely seem to be the shoe to have this spring/summer.

The Hangover 2

YES! My favourite film from 2009, The Hangover, is releasing The Hangover 2 sometime during 2011 and I CAN NOT WAIT!

If you have not seen The Hangover you must seriously rent it out, it's one of the funniest films I've ever seen. I had to buy it on DVD it was that good. It also stars Bradley Cooper so of course - another great reason to watch it.

(Yes, an oversized picture was needed)

It tells the story of four men hitting Las Vegas for their friends bachelor party only to wake up in the morning with him missing. They go on a journey to find him and along the way end up in some strange situations.

The video is just something funny I found online whilst searching The Hangover 2. It's a video from Zach Galifianakis who plays Alan in the film.

Jen Aniston 'Sex Tape'?!

When I heard that another celebrity, this time Jennifer Aniston, had made a sex tape I have to be honest and say it didn't make me think about much- we're pretty used to these by now after the trend was set by Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee.

Although after hearing something about this 'sextape' on an interview with Jen I decided to investigate as it didn't sound like your typical tape viewing...

In fact this so-called 'sextape' is a viral ad for Smart Water.  Cleverly they used the title 'Jennifer Aniston Sex Tape' on Youtube to create a massive amount of views.

To generate even more views they have included some well known Youtube faces like BeenerKeeKee19952 who is known for his funny lip singing. Click HERE to see him lip singing to Katy Perry Teenage Dream.

BeenerKeeKee19952 is really starting to make a name for himself even working with 50 Cent! Believe it or not but the original video for Down On Me by 50 Cent has only 12,093,482 views whereas the one below featuring BeenerKeeKee19952 has a staggering 26,822,429 views!

Scouts Back Air Medics.

This is a previous article that I wrote (and was published) for my local newspaper the Gazette and Herald whilst on work experience. I am adding it to my blog so that employers I direct to my blog can see my past work.

Devizes Scouts have given £260 to the Wiltshire Air Ambulance Appeal.

Keith Bennett, District Commissioner of Mid Wiltshire Scouts, presented paramedic Steve Riddle with a cheque after 300 Scouts, Cubs, Beavers and Explorer Scouts teamed up to raise money for the medical charity.

Mr Bennett, who lives in Market Lavington, said "Any of us could need the air ambulance at any time, anyone in the community could need it. We know that they're a good service, this is why we've chosen them."

The money was raised at St Mary's Church in Calne during the traditional St George's Day parade on April 25. Teas, coffees and cakes were sold and people were asked to put donations in a collection pot.

You Could Go To Prison, Fly Tippers Warned.

This is a previous article that I wrote (and was published) for my local newspaper the Gazette and Herald whilst on work experience. I am adding it to my blog so that employers I direct to my blog can see my past work.

People who fly tip in Wiltshire could face a £50,000 fine or six months in prison.

The warning has come from Wiltshire Council, which said this week it was determined to crack down on the problem. Last year there were 1,439 tipping incidents in the county, costing more than £130,000 in collection and disposal costs.

Dick Tonge, cabinet member for highways and transport, says: "We are going to track down on this. Almost everybody complains bitterly about the few who fly tip and litter our roads and countryside. The financial penalties for ignoring the law are severe. We don't want to spend our time prosecuting people who fly tip of don't dispose of their waste properly, but we can't allow the irresponsible few to get away with it."

Since April, more than 10 cases have been referred to the council's team, with four formal cautions already issues and a number of full prosecutions likely.

Hey New Shoes.

I'm feeling very talkative today, hence the second blog post in one day. Not a bad thing though right?

I've been a very very busy girl recently...shoe shopping!

I've always loved high stiletto shoes, to me they're ultimate woman. They make us tall, our legs look fabulous but overall I think that they make a woman look classy and sexy all in one go. Unfortunately I have never been one for wearing them, well being able to wear them. My mum never really owned high heeled shoes so I never had anything to practise in whilst growing up (not blaming you mum!) so I never really learnt.

Of course over the years I have bought pairs but I only end up wearing them when I have to or if there's only a small amount of walking (less time for me to make an idiot of myself when I can't move in them). I eventually decided that I needed a good pair which basically tied my feet into them, that way I couldn't fall out of them and might be able to walk better with my feet more supported. Here began the mission of finding a 'sensible' pair of stiletto heels...

Eventually I found the perfect shoe for me.

I ordered these online from Office (click here to see the page) for an amazing price of £15.00 (even though online it now says £25..I don't know why) when they should have been £75. They're black leather with a peep toe. My feet get totally strapped in which is great support and surprisingly they're quite comfy - the only part of my feet that hurt after wearing them is my toes (from the peep toe cut.)

Now for a comfier option. The traditional cool Converse.

Again I've always loved Converse only this time unlike stilettos I can actually walk in them. I've had several pairs including pink ones, high top black ones and patterned ones but never a traditional pair of white high tops. I think in the summer they'll look great with short shorts and a tshirt. (I bought mine from Office but you can get them pretty much anywhere!)

Every girl needs a sweet pair of spring/summer pumps. For the past two years I've got mine from Monsoon - they always have the nicest pairs for a good price and they usually last me the season if I look after them. Mine were £24.99.

They're a beautiful duck egg blue colour with an animal print lining. The edge of the bows are zip which I thought was really quirky!

My final pair of new shoes are none like any other pair I have owned believe it or not.

GYM SHOES!!!
It's a fact, I'm joining the gym. It's finally clicked that if I want the body of Gisele Bundchen (in my dreams) then I'm going to have to do something about it!
In all seriousness I just want to improve my fitness and get a bikini body for the summer. The last time I ran for the bus I felt like I was going to faint...this is un acceptable for a nearly 20 year old!

Nude Nails.

I'm a massive fan of nail varnish and in particular bright colours. My varnish collection includes greens, reds, and bright pinks but this time I wanted to go for something more classic and subtle - something more grown up and soft looking.

After spending a good half an hour exploring the makeup section of my local Boots store I decided on a nude colour. Maybelline did a great looking colour but being a student  I had to face up to the fact that I might have to choose a cheaper brand that I normally wouldn't buy.

In the end I went for Number 17 Lasting Fix Nail Polish in colour 'Forever' priced at £2.99, and I must say I'm really pleased with it. The colour is a lovely nude almost weak coffee colour and it was lovely to apply. I have done two coats to get a better colour and finish. Hopefully it will last - the bottle claims it has 'up to five days of lasting colour'. I would normally finish it off with a topcoat of clear varnish but actually the Nude alone gives a lovely shine and I want to see how long it lasts without the topcoat.

It's so subtle that in fact it pretty much blends into my skin colour but this is the effect that I wanted; stylish but subtle, a clean finish.

Different Styles.

YES OR NO with the jacket?

Yo Yo Bounces into Business

This is a previous article that I wrote (and was published) for my local newspaper the Gazette and Herald whilst on work experience. I am adding it to my blog so that employers I direct to my blog can see my past work.

A children's clothing shop opened by a couple with four children has done well it its first week of trade. Yo Yo has opened in one of the new units in Snuff Street in Devizes.

Keith and Lucy Wain opened the shop after Mrs Wain, who runs with Mummy workshops, found she had to go to Swindon or even Bristol to find children's clothes.
Mr Wain said: "The parents are definitely glad there's something different to Tesco, we've had steady trade."

Mr Wain is giving up his job as production manager at the Hovis bakery in Eastleigh, Hampshire. He was formarly production manager at Hayden's Bakeries in Devizes.
Mrs Wain said: "Whenever we needed to buy clothes for the children we had to go to Swindon or even Bristol."

Bad Blogger.

I've been a bad blogger. I have not blogged for almost a month! I promise I will try to blog everyday...even if it's the smallest of things - I need to get into the habit.

However because of my lack of blogging it does mean that lots has happened so I have plenty to talk about now.

Here is a picture of the River Island dress I bought recently.

It has to be one of my favourite dresses at the moment, its such a subtle colour and style but with a beautiful pop of lace detail on the sleeves and bottom of the dress. I wore it out for the first time last week and as soon as I walked into the club some drunk idiot spilt drink all down the back of me. I was not impressed. It was only a day later (I had been SO busy) that I realised it had stained. The instructions say hand wash only so I soaked it in very hot water with hand wash powder and rubbed it a little, luckily the stain came out perfectly. Here are a couple of pictures of my night out:

You may or may not be able to see that I put a belt around the dress.

It's a beautiful thin belt from Monsoon Accessorise with a rose as the buckle. Its a rich dark brown almost black and it also comes in brown and pink! A sweet accessory which adds something else to the dress. It cost £12.00. Here is a close up picture of the belt detail:

I had to buy myself a slip to go underneath otherwise my underwear was visible. I went for this from Marks and Spencer:
I really like this and it definitely works - not only does it hide the colours of my underwear but any lines or bumps are gone too! For £22.50 I think it's great value for money. It comes in black as well as fawn (above) and has smoothing effect without being clingy or static.
